Local, hip, and definitely not the kind of experience you get from eating at a New York pizzeria. For one, the Redrocks in Columbia Heights is like walking into someone’s apartment. Plus they serve bottomless mimosas on weekends for just $9!!

The Margherita pizza is a good price at $10.95 for 11 inches. The pies are DOC style with puffy chewy crust, which is probably the best part of the pizza, even if it was a little salty. We weren’t fans of the mozzarella di bufala as it was dry and too tough the day we were there. The sauce, made fresh, could have also used some pizzazz. Other items at Redrocks are worth trying. We particularly enjoyed the calzone.

For a pizza-starved city like Washington, Redrocks is worth traveling to. And if you happen to find yourself near Columbia Heights or Old Town Alexandria, say hello to us on Foursquare.
