The perennially popular Pizza Paradiso uses a wood burning oven and has some of the best pizza in Washington DC. With three locations, including Dupont Circle, Georgetown, and Alexandria VA, Paradiso uses quality ingredients, plus they have a nice selection of microbrewery beers on draft.
The pies are not cheap and come in two sizes: 8 inch ($10.25 for the margherita) and 12 inch ($16.50), with the option to have whole wheat dough on any pie. Paradiso uses high quality cheese from the start, but lets you upgrade further to fresh bufala di mozzarella. The pizzas do not have any sauce, which may be a negative to many, but the tomatoes they chop in are red, plump, sweet and delicious.
There is often a wait, even at five pm, but it’s worth it. Especially, if you can score a seat at the bar.
