About a year old, Lisa’s is the new restaurant from Sage owner, Lisa Savage. Small and cozy with the air conditioning cranked up and popular classic rockers like Doobie Brothers, Chicago and Steve Winwood playing, Lisa’s is good for a casual meal any time of day.

Billed as a pizza-salad-panini joint, Lisa’s pies are done in a brick oven and come in two sizes, six slices or eight. The small pies (14 inches) cost $10 for a regular pie and $11 for the Margherita, which uses fresh mozzarella. That’s a bargain in PizzaSnobo’s world. We sprung for the extra buck and went for the Margherita. The cheese is sliced thin, but could have used a little longer in the oven. The crust is thin and crispy, giving a nice overall texture. But the crust was also a little dry and made us wonder who has the better water, New York City or the Jersey Shore? The sauce was probably the best part – thick and plentiful with just a little bit of tart. Next time we’ll try the regular cheese pie and see if they still pile on the sauce.

For those who don’t want the red sauce, there are plenty of white pies to choose from as well. After all, this is Jersey!
