La Briciola, located in the hip Marais neighborhood (Third Arrondissement) is one of the best pizza restaurants in the city. The restaurant is comfortable and the staff quite pleasant.

The pies (10.50€) are thin but not crispy and unfortunately the dough – like almost all the places we tried – is not as good as other types of bread found in the French bakeries. The pies at La Briciola are soupy in the Neapolitan fashion, so a knife and fork is needed to get started. There is plenty of sauce, made from fresh tomatoes is slightly sweet and the best part of the pie. The cheese is good, though a little stringy, and they use a bit too much of it.

The window of opportunity for eating pizza in Paris is limited. Most restaurants open around 12:00 or 12:30 and stay open through lunch, which can end as early as 2:00. Then they close until dinner, which starts at 7:00 or 7:30, depending on the place. We suggest you call ahead to make sure the restaurant is still in business or hasn’t moved locations.
