Dean’s has three Manhattan locations, which have a feel similar to the related Patsy’s. Dean’s uses a gas-fired brick oven and boasts a large menu.
The small “old school round” is $15. The fresh mozzarella is very good and baked directly on top of the crust. The sauce is sweet and applied after the cheese, a process similar to Patsy’s. The pizza is also topped with fresh basil. The crust is of medium thickness and is slightly over charred. The dough is denser than Patsy’s.
The crust at Patsy’s is better but the Dean’s locations are nicer.
