The French love their pizza so much they consume more of it than any other country other than the United States. However, as much as they’d like to think so, so far their pies haven’t stacked up to the same culinary level as many of their other foods.

DaMimmo’s is more like a suburban Italian restaurant than a pizzeria. It’s considered to have some of the best pizza in Paris, however, we don’t agree. The crust is puffier than most, but still thin and on the soggy side. There was also a sour aftertaste. There was an adequate amount of sauce, but it was very mild and we didn’t like that the basil leaves were still on their stems. On the flip side, the chopped basil below the cheese was a nice touch. The cheese was fine and the best part of the pie (9.50€), but it didn’t really excite us either.

Keep in mind when traveling in Paris, the window of opportunity for eating pizza is limited. Most restaurants open around 12:00 or 12:30 and stay open through lunch, which can end as early as 2:00. Then they close until dinner, which starts at 7:00 or 7:30. We suggest you call ahead.
