Comet Ping Pong means to be a pizza playground and they have succeeded. Want to watch a game on TV? Their screens are huge. See live music on Friday nights? That’s also covered. Give the kids something to do other than sit and eat? That’s Comet’s specialty. From hipsters to toddlers, Comet is a winner. If only their pizza was as wonderful as the rest of the place.

The basic tomato pie ($7.95) reminded us of the best airport pizza ever. The cheese was browned giving it some needed extra taste. The sauce was sweet and fresh, but there was very little of it. The soft crust had a hint of sourdough but was overly doughy. There are plenty of toppings to add, including smoked mushroom, clams and bacon – so have a ball. They also do gluten free.

Comet is a destination, which happens to serve decent, reasonably priced pizza. When you do visit, we recommend stopping by Politics and Prose bookstore, which is a few doors down and one of the jewels of the city.
