Not to be confused with the Washington, DC Paradiso mini-chain, Pizza Paradiso in Hawaii is located in the same shopping center as the Times Market just north of Ka’anapali. It’s a casual place with counter service. They have a large “voted #1 pizza on Maui” banner hanging outside but we’ll be the judge of that. (Shaka pizza said something similar.) Perhaps pizza in paradise is more appropriate.

Paradiso claims to use locally grown ingredients, though the heavily herbed sauce on our slice ($3.13) tasted like it came out of a can. The crust was very spongy and came off a rolling conveyor belt (AKA toaster) oven they use. The cheese was browned and tasted fine but could use a sprinkle of parmesan to give it more flavor.

They do offer a “Maui Wowie” pie, which means pineapple and ham at Pizza Paradiso.
