Joe’s Pizza – multiple locations

7 Carmine Street, Multiple locations
New York, NY  10014

Joe’s has been on Carmine Street in NYC for a long time and now they have also expanded to Brooklyn and Los Angeles. This tiny spot in Greenwich Village is good for a quick stopover and although the tourist guides rave about it, the lines are never unbearably long. Some locals swear by Joe’s and the PizzaSnobo likes it too. But we wish we absolutely loved it. Maybe it’s because of their location change some years back. (Many of you will remember their original location a few doors south.) Now the original spot is gone and they might be resting on their laurels a little, but Joe’s is still very good.

The dough is thin and crispy and the slices ($2.75) are not at all greasy. There is a sharpness to the pizza and the fresh tomato sauce is tangy rather than sweet. Its great texture is one of the reasons Joe’s is so loved. This is a really good slice of pizza, but the parts don’t quite come together to make it fantastic.

For visitors or locals, Joe’s should be included on any pizza rotation.
