It’s refreshing to find a pizzeria on a street in NYC, rather than on the avenue. Gino’s on the Upper East Side accomplishes this, in part because they are not just a pizzeria, but a restaurant as well – kind of like Delizia. Most of the people we saw were grabbing food to go. The kids seem love this pizza – for good reason.

The slices ($2.50) at Gino’s are crispy and cheesy, a very fine combination. This is a hearty slice but the sauce does not come into play as much as the cheese and crust components. We liked the sauce, but it didn’t truly wow us, plus there wasn’t enough of it. Still, Gino’s serves a very good slice that could one day turn great.

Stop by for a pick-up, have it delivered, or sit and be served by the wait staff. It’s all very good at Gino’s.
