Francesco’s on the Upper West Side is a casual pizzeria with a full menu and plenty of seating. They seem to have waiter service but you’ll most likely order from the counter, especially if you are getting pizza.

The slice ($2.50) starts off pretty good but our satisfaction declined the more we tasted. The bland crust starts thin, then thickens as you make your way to the outer lip. Francesco’s uses extra virgin olive oil on the crust which gives a bit of a heaviness to the slice. They also bake on a metal screen to give the crust an evenly symmetrical, triangular texture. The sauce is a little bitter, but there isn’t a lot of it. The cheese is average.

We find the pizza here just average and heavy.
