Once upon a time, there were a pair of pizzerias on the Upper East Side called Anna Maria. Anna Maria had one of the best chicken parmesan heroes in the city – thanks to generous portions and excellent sauce. Their pizza was very good as well. But during all this time, Delizia had their following and they are still going strong.

With two locations, Delizia slices ($2.50) are more than solid for a neighborhood pizzeria. The back of the establishment is also a full service restaurant. Either section is great for kids and families. The crust is crispy, though was dry the day we ate here. The cheese was better than the usual, and even had a little sweetness to it. The sauce was also better than average, though not very memorable.

The texture and overall package of a Delizia slice is better than the individual parts. Maybe it’s the extra oil that adds moisture and compliments the crunch. Either way, keep up the good work.
