DC Slices – Washington, DC

by PizzaSnobo on April 11, 2011

Multiple locations / Pizza truck

We like the guys at DC Slices and we like that they are not only shooting to make slices that aren’t jumbo sized, but they’re also paying attention to quality. The truck is on a schedule and lines for lunch are long, so check their website before you go. With the to-go boxes weighing more than the slices, DC Slices isn’t as eco-friendly as they could be, plus they’re expensive.

A plain slice costs $4 – about $1.25 more than the NYC average – and is the same price as pizzas with toppings. That puts their plain slices in the Artichoke price range, who not only make large high quality slices, they also pay NYC rent. The slices at DC Slices are medium sized, with thin soft crust that doesn’t really crunch. They don’t go too heavy on the cheese, in a good way. The sauce was light and understated. The fresh sliced basil is a nice addition.

Is it us, or do a lot of DC pizzas look the same? Check out Angelico and Matchbox and you’ll see what we mean. In the meantime, we’ll be back to try DC Slices again, assuming the line is not down the block.
