Located near the ridiculously crowded – yet efficient – Custard’s Last Stand, Capri Pizza is a small, somewhat awkward place that brings your slices out to you on a plate. It’s not that the slices are gourmet in any way – it’s just the way Capri does it.

Slices in the display case looked at least a day old – and we came for a lunch on Saturday in August. True to PizzaSnobo tradition, we went with the plain slice ($2.50 plus tax), the foundation of so many other varieties. We’re happy to say that the slice surprised us with its light texture and pleasant crunch, which was probably due in large part to re-heating. It also had a good sauce-to-cheese ratio. The cheese had a little tang too it, but there was a little too much of it applied, which we didn’t decide until we were halfway done with our first slice. The sauce was solid enough and homemade.

Order a pie fresh. Then head next door for ice cream.
