What’s Rosa’s secret? Location, location, location. Plus a beer counter in front. Rosa’s Pizza – it’s also referred to as Rose – is downstairs in Penn Station near the Long Island Railroad. As a pizza place it’s pretty much the equivalent of mall pizza, yet thanks to the many events at Madison Square Garden, Rosa’s can get so crowded it’s ridiculous.

Slices are cheaper than most ($2.25) and are large and on the thin-crusted side. But they’re also too floppy. The sauce and cheese are fine. Overall, as long as you don’t get an old pie, the pizza here is pretty good and better than we expected.

If you have even five minutes to spare and it’s really good pizza you care about, then we recommend you walk outside to Suprema instead. Or Lazzara’s.
