Nick & Toni’s Cafe – New York, NY

Nick & Toni’s is located on the Upper West Side with a base in East Hampton. We tried the NYC restaurant near Lincoln Center, a stark spot where you can generally find a table as well as passable Italian food.

The personal pies ($15) have a soft crust and come out uncut. The taste is a mix between a NY Style slice and DOC. Kind of what you get from neighborhood Italian restaurants around the country. Nick & Toni’s pie was a little floppy and the cheese was good, but it was too soft and there was too much of it, so chew and swallow carefully. The sauce had a little kick, which we liked, but otherwise it tasted canned.

With all the gourmet pizza competition in New York, Nick & Toni’s should consider revising their recipe – not to produce more of the same, but to be great nonetheless.
